Twenty-five years later,  The Cosby Show’s strong moral values still holds true with Americans, and Essence Magazine chose to celebrate that in its current issue.  The Cosby Show, debuting in 1984, was a step in the right direction for racial equality in television.  It brought a successful and loving family to the airwaves, showing everyone that African-American families could be affluent, well-educated, caring  and go through the same issues as any other family of any color.

Members of the original show came together in  May for Essence Magazine’s  cultural section shot by photographer Garth Aikens. 

 In attendance were Cosby himself, Phylicia Rashad ( “Claire”), Keisha Knight-Pulliam ( “Rudy”), Raven-Symone (“Olivia”) and Malcolm-Jamal Warner (“Theo”).  At the studio, laughter resonated through the walls, as the cast reminisced about their time together on the award-winning sitcom.  Cosby, in rare-form entertained the staff with antics.  “We were definitely a little bit starstruck,” notes Taylor Hingston, Equipment Manager.  “I mean come on, it’s Bill Cosby.  We grew up at home with him and his family!”

As Bill Cosby left the studio you couldn’t help but think, “What happened to all of those sweaters?” 

Back in 2007, this soulful pianoman shot his music video “Goodbye Philadelphia” here at Daylight Studio.

Since we’re feelin’ a bit nostalgic, we figured we’d show ya the video!

It’s really hard not to. With an impeccable sense of style, and willing to share his fashion wisdom with every female on the planet–it’s hard not to.

Proctor & Gamble decided to tap into Gunn’s appeal to women and utilize him to promote the new “Total Care” line of products.

The line claims that using it will let clothes keep their shape, color and new look regardless of repeated washings. We’ll see about that–but Gunn has the means to be incredibly convincing to the ladies.

So why talk about detergent & Tim Gunn…? Well if you’ve caught the commercial already (it was on eight gazillion times during the Oscars), you may have noticed a familiar window pattern…

Yes, that’s right! The commercial was filmed right here at Daylight Studio! We were happy to play host to Gunn and the TV production crew. We recently found some posts with some behind the scenes footage so we wanted to share!

This past Thursday, April 16th, metrodaylight’s studios saw over 600 young, beautiful faces for a shoot with The Children’s Place working on their catalogue campaigns.

When it comes to Casting, metromotion gives babylove.

Model’s leant their bodies as canvases to Sacks, an award winning industry expert whose career spans decades and borders. Thousands of images were captured over the three day shoot and ideas invented themselves in an inspired atmosphere that took the session from quiet body shots to syrup–skin contact which produced glazed faces and milky masks.

Sacks, whom did all the casting for the shoot, has visited and shot at metromotion daylight on multiple occasions. “They always feel like part of the crew, never intrusive,” Sacks remarked on his relationship with the production studio.
